Learning from Experiences

Roger was raised on a farm in Gowrie, Iowa, one of five children. Church, community and hard work were at the core of life in Gowrie. He later graduated from Iowa State University, majoring in agricultural business and minoring in finance.

Life wasn't always easy; there were illnesses, and hard times for family farms. After his father's death, Roger watched his mother continue to live nobly, faithfully and with a loving heart. Her inner strength helped her through crises, and held an extended family together.

Inspired by example, Roger entered a career in which he could have that kind of meaningful effect on others' lives. He seeks to be a "Monday to Sunday" Christian, and always tries to consider his faith in personal and business relationships.

Roger is also quite active in the Council Bluffs community. He is a member and past president of the Downtown Kiwanis Club, where he currently serves as chairman of the Pancake Day committee and is on the executive committe of the Nebraska-Iowa Kiwanis Foundation. Roger is also active at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, currently serving on the church council, singing in the church choir and serving as co-leader of the junior high youth group. In addition, he served as former chairman and ten year member of the City Planning Commission and former chairman and six year member of the Loess Hills Red Cross Chapter board of directors.
